I love books and Waterway Point is right in my neighbourhood. It’s a joy to have a good bookstore near you and I’m sharing 7 things I love about Times Bookstore at Waterway Point.
- ITS BEAUTIFUL AND INSTAGRAM-ABLE
2. THE WORKSHOP / ACTIVITY SPACE
Times have changed, bookstores are not just for buying books and stationary!
When required, this space can be converted into a workshop / activity space such as story telling sessions or meet and greet of characters. As this particular branch of Times Bookstore is biggest lifestyle concept store in Singapore, it has the ability to hold a broader range of activities that may require more space, like cooking classes. I hear that there will be an interesting / unusual class for kids, so you might want to keep a lookout for it.
At the official opening, the space was used for guests to make their own mud cake. Joy made hers almost entirely by herself by following some simple instructions. All I did was to carry her and help with the very last bit of pipping. I received news
3. BOOKS THAT GIVES ME FOND MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD / TEENAGE YEARS
I was a real bookworm from young. If you just let me be, I’d probably skip meals because I was too engrossed in reading. Can’t tell you how happy I was to relieve my childhood / teenage years through these titles.
4. HOME AND LIFESTYLE PRODUCTS
6. THE CHILDREN’S SECTION
The entrance of the children’s section is hard to miss and absolutely inviting. I would be
The thing about the children’s section is the space. What luxury to have the space (complete with ladybug cushions) for children to plonk down and read to their hearts’ content.
And make themselves comfortable they did. When I stepped in I saw how naturally inviting that space was. Joy for one picked a book and sat herself down, but even so, she didn’t block the entire passage way because it was so wide.
I took this picture because I feel that children’s books nowadays are so well illustrated.
If I let her be, Joy would probably spend a long time browsing the aisles.
I bought a chinese language book on the official opening itself and returned to buy a Jamie Oliver junior baking set which made Joy sequel in delight. My most favourite purchase of all has got to be a pack of postcards (yes, postcards) which makes Chinese writing seem easy due to pictorial illustration of how the characters came about.
See what I mean? Maybe I didn’t look hard enough, but I haven’t seen these in other bookstores before.
Did you visit the new Times Bookstore at Waterway Point? What did you think about it?
