One of my big focus now is our new home and planning for it has given me a yearning to declutter and simplify. Living for years with little space for possessions has taught me that I didn’t need all the things I used to surround myself with and that I seriously have too much now. I’d like to declutter and focus as well here so, ever since this post I’ve been working on re-categorising, partly also to re-read my older posts and get back in touch with why I started writing here in the first place.
Growing up with Joy
The exercise brought back so many memories, especially when I read the posts that are now categorised under “Growing up with Joy“. I wrote so so many posts about Joy when she was a baby, although they are not the usual milestone posts. Those were things about Joy which I wanted to safe keep, to remember, laugh over and show her when she grows up. I chuckled at how Joy used to look like when she was a baby, completely different from her now. She grew up right under my nose.
If you noticed, I stopped them for a while, worried if I was exposing Joy too much on this site but looking back at the things that I wrote about, I feel that they are still within my comfort level.
The “Motherhood” category now lists all posts I had previously written about my calling as a mother. The earlier posts can be quite dark, but they are real feelings and thoughts I had at that time and I won’t be deleting them. Good or bad, it’s all good, isn’t it.
Everything else to do with “Family” are categorised as such, including my favourite, the posts on Joy and my father. I ought to write more.
I was asked about the “Living” category that has been there for some time now. I put everything to do with my daily thoughts on living there, including some about writing on this site (like this very post you are reading).
These are small changes, but I’m very happy with them because they keep me focused on what I want to write about on this site, sometimes it’s easy to lose focus, because there are so many things happening right now. I love it that this place is evolving with me.
I keep simple records of our daily life on my Dayre. I also use Instagram and update my Facebook Page pretty often. To keep all sorts of ideas, I pin them to my Pinterest. If you enjoyed reading this post, connect with me on the various platforms I'm on and you won't miss an update!
