Not that you can’t dress up a boy (totally can do, yo! I’ll demonstrate if I ever have a boy ✌ ) but one of the things I love about having a little girl is that I can play dress up with her!
I used to have full control of what she wears but increasingly so, she’s been asking to dress herself and she has preferences to match certain pieces with certain pieces. Fashion seems to be a common love between Joy and I so when Fox Kids and Babies invited us for a styling workshop, I was very happy to go!
Behind the scenes
You cannot tell but Joy was very cranky before this. Glad she cheered up just in time!

Joy being shown the clothing she would be dressed in. I didn’t manage to capture it in time but she pointed to the pink dress and smiled a silly smile at me. ♥
Joy being led to the changing room for a change and out with her new get up. The transformation is not completed yet!
The next thing to do was to put on a pair of leggings to throw the look off the dress combo, let her hair down and accessorise!

Evon, our stylist for the day made some very good picks in my opinion.
✮ The pretty pink dress with lace back details was paired with a sweatshirt, as opposed to a girly cardigan.

✮ The BFF sweatshirt she picked is in grey so it breaks the sweet look of the pink dress and makes the get up more interesting but the pink polka dots at the sleeves makes it adorable.
✮ The leggings is a great touch because it transforms the get up and made it edgy, which I like a lot
✮ The headband adds irresistible cuteness to the get up but the print still fits into the overall edgy look
✮ Joy’s later picked a pair of purple sunglasses. It was not what Evon had originally planned but it still went well with the outfit. I love how versatile the get up is, you can add or remove things to your liking.
I think you can tell, I’m very happy with the styling!

It’s Joy’s first “photoshoot” so she didn’t know what to do but I thought she did pretty well for a first time!
After a while, she loosened up and started to smile!
I changed Joy’s hairstyle after the photoshoot because we had a long day ahead (don’t want her hair down) and it still fitted the get up.
Final Product!

You like it? I do!
I like the current collection so much we got matchy tees! Thank goodness I can fit into the largest size!
I picked this tee because it goes well with the stripe leggings Joy was styled in and the shoes she happened to be wearing that day. I think that the I’m-a-pink-kinda-girl-and-i’m-not look is very refreshing to see on a girl.
I’m eyeing this tee as well, it’s got Joy’s favourite Hello Kitty but the paint splash design makes it not too childish for me to wear as well. What do you think? (Click here to check out other designs in Fox’s latest Kids and Babies collection!)
What have I’ve learnt in this workshop?
It’s fun to layer or match things that you might not think will work together at first instance. Don’t take (kids’) fashion seriously, have fun and play on!
Disclosure: Joy was invited to the FOX Kids & Baby Little Fashionista Styling Workshop and gifted with the outfit that she was styled in, accessories not included. No other monetary compensation was received, all opinions and the fun we had dressing up are our own.
